O’Shannassy Pipeline Pigging
Melbourne Water identified the need to swab the O’Shannassy Cross Connection’ between O’Shannassy Reservoir and the Upper Yarra Aqueduct. This project was instigated due to a drop in transfer capacity in the pipeline due to a naturally occurring build up of sediment within the pipe – a common occurrence in large transfer mains.
Works included careful excavation aroud the main with a Franna used to lift out sections of them main to allow the foam ‘pigs’ to be installed. WES also completed the onsite treatment of ‘dirty’ water that resulted from the swabbing. The project delivered on all client objectives with an increase in transfer capacity being achieved immediately.
